Spitzbergen, Eastern Greenland & Iceland
This trip organized by Quark, took 48 enthusiastic travelers from Longyearben in Spitzbergen or Svalbard up the west coast visiting Alkhornet and Poolepynten. To the north landing at Fuglesangen, Yrte Norskøya, Sallyhamna and Raudfjordbreen before heading further north to cross 80° N. Two days were spent crossing the Greenland Sea to Kaiser Franz Joseph Fjord on the East coast of Greenland stopping at Blumsterbug and Ella Island. In Scoresbysund we visited Ittoqqortoomiit, Hurry Inlet, Syd Kap, Kap Halva Hoffman, Rode Island and Danmark Island. Two more days were spent crossing the Danmark Sea to West Iceland. A morning sightseeing tour of the island of Heimaey left us only to cruise north past the island of Surtsey to dock in Reykjavik in Iceland.
